Dear IOGKF Colleagues,
I wanted to send an early announcement for an event we are hosting here in central PA during this coming March:
On Saturday, March 27th, in beautiful Selinsgrove, PA, we will be hosting the third annual Susquehanna Martial Arts Symposium. Events for the day will include:
Goju-ryu training with Tetsuji Nakamura Sensei, currently the chief instructor for IOGKF-North America.
Pekiti Tirsia training with Guro Wes Tasker.
A panel discussion on "Women, Violence, and Self-Defense," with panelists Dana Sheets Sensei (Uechi-ryu), Karla Bohmbach, Ph.D. (who teaches a university course on women and violence), and a Female PA State Trooper TBA.
A hands-on session entitled, "Zanshin: Theory and Practice," taught by yours truly.
A Filipino stick fighting mini-seminar with Guro Tasker.
A Public Demonstration.
The cost for the day is $25 (thanks to assistance from the Asian Studies Program at Susquehanna University). The day's activities are open to practitioners of all styles, ages 16+.
Bonus: On Sunday, March 28th, Nakamura Sensei will be conducting an additional seminar for practitioners of Goju-ryu. Cost: $25.
Details about lodging and other arrangements are available by contacting me at: JMann@susqu.edu
Registration is at the door beginning at 8:00.
Hope to see you there.
